The Art of Simple Pleasures

The Morning Ritual: Savouring the Perfect Cup of Coffee

Whether you’re a member of the 5am club or a night owl who struggles to break free from the duvet, there’s something magical about mornings. It’s more than just the start of the day; it’s a powerful time for nurturing mental well-being. A peaceful morning ritual can be a sanctuary of calm, setting the foundation for a balanced and fulfilling day.

The Ingredients: From Local Village to Your Cup

My journey begins at my local village store, where the air is thick with the scent of fresh produce, homemade goods and the murmur of friendly exchanges fills the air. It’s here that I discovered the star ingredient of my morning brew. The brilliant team at Coast & Moor Coffee

haved searched for the Worlds very best Arabica coffee’s to bring together a range of sustainable coffee’s in the South West! Founded on direct relationships which have a positive impact on coffee farmers communities in Peru & Colombia. Sol y Cafe – an organic cooperative farming on the mountains of Peru and the Colombian Marianela beans hail from an estate owned by agronomist Hernan Dorronsoro in southerwestern Colombia. The Venture whole beans, with notes of caramel, cocoa & cherry, are perfect for the early hours. Their aroma alone is enough to stir the senses, a tantalizing preview of the full-bodied experience to come.

Next, I reach for a bottle of Roddas whole milk. It’s creamy, fresh, and carries with it the essence of the South West countryside. Choosing local dairy produce transforms a cup of coffee into an indulgent experience, with its smooth texture and full, frosty mouthfeel.

The Preparation: A Symphony of Sensations

Back at home, I set up my Sage Barista Touch coffee machine, an investment I made during the pandemic figuring I’d be saving money in the long run while enjoying the art of coffee making. There’s something reassuring about the quiet hum of the machine as it warms up, ready to extract the best from the beans. The process is almost meditative - listening to the beans bounce together as I pour them into the grinder, where they’re transformed into a fragrant, fine powder.

As the coffee begins to brew, the kitchen fills with an aroma that’s rich and inviting. The scent is warm and comforting, like a hug from the inside out. I watch as the dark liquid streams into my cup, a promise of the rich flavors that await.

The final touch is the milk. I froth the Roddas whole milk until it’s a cloud of creamy goodness. As I pour it into the coffee, the frothy milk swirls and dances, merging with the dark coffee beneath to create a marbled masterpiece.

The Experience: Savoring the Moment

With my cup of coffee in hand, I step outside into the early morning sun. The world is still quiet, save for the distant chirping of birds and the rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze. I take a seat, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin as I open up the latest edition of Drift magazine, a local publication that perfectly captures the essence of the South West.

As I sip my coffee and read through the pages of Drift, I feel a deep sense of what mornings should be - a time to pause, to savor, to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, a connection to the land, to the community, and to the moment.

In a world that’s always rushing forward, it’s moments like these that remind us of the importance of slowing down.

It’s the little things that make life truly beautiful.
